Switching over to the pump

I used to take three insulin injections everyday- pre-breakfast, pre-lunch and pre-dinner and then had to add one more at bed-time. Still, in-spite of regular blood tests, diet and four injections my fasting sugars used to be high. Then my doctor suggested that I use the insulin pump. Thereafter the pump changed my life.
I assumed my body would take about two to three months to adjust to the new insulin, new dosage and the new machine. But this machine gave me a different kind of life in just 2 days. Yes, it took me just two days to adjust to the pump. Within a period of a week my sugars were perfect :)
The best advantage the pump has given me is flexibility. I can eat when I am hungry and not eat when i am not..!! Previously I had to eat even when  I was not hungry. My sugars have not gone above 250 and below 70 since I started using the pump. Yes, initially hypos and hypers do happen, but that is the learning stage. The pump just involves some basic math and is simple and easy to use especially for the young crowd.
I have heard both good and bad reviews about the pump, but i would definitely say that it makes a huge positive difference.
In India the insulin pump is not very well known. If you are a diabetic or know people who are diabetic, I think awareness about this technology is very important. It helps in weight control, gives flexibility and most importantly gives perfect sugars. My experience with the pump was amazing, hope yours will be too :)
